CaldwellParish
(French: Paroisse de Caldwell) is a parish located in the U.S. state of
Louisiana. The parish seat is Columbia and as of July 208, the population
was 10,353. The population density is 19 people per square mile.
The parish's land area is 529 sq. mi. with the water area being
11.3 sq. mi.
The terrain in the parish consists of swamps, hardwood and softwood
trees including pine, oaks, birch, and more. The ground is
mostly flat with very few rolling hills.
The history of Caldwell Parish is rich with logging industrial
background and Native American heritage, as noted by the many
earthworks, or Indian mounds, that lay in the swamps, woods, and even
open ground such as fields and yards.
The rural communities pepper the parish with good ol' fashioned
country living. From crawfishing to catfishing, outdoor sports
have no bounds in this parish sportsman's paradise.
